Abstract

Individual belief in one’s own ability, known as self-efficacy, is a critical factor in determining academic success. Student personality influences the level of self-efficacy, which in turn has a direct impact on academic achievement. This study was prompted by findings at SMKN 4 Payakumbuh, where some students were found to lack confidence, put minimal effort into completing tasks, and held the belief that only intelligent students can succeed. Such perceptions contribute to low learning motivation and academic performance. The aim of this research is to determine the extent to which self-efficacy influences students' academic achievement at SMKN 4 Payakumbuh. A quantitative approach was used, employing a simple regression analysis method. The population consisted of 148 students, with a sample of 37 selected proportionally. Data were collected through self-efficacy and academic achievement questionnaires using a Likert scale and analyzed using SPSS version 26. Regression test results showed that self-efficacy has a significant effect on academic achievement, with an F-value of 10.662, which is greater than the F-table value of 4.12. These findings confirm that improving students’ self-efficacy contributes positively to their academic performance.
