Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the 5E learning cycle model on students' problem-solving abilities in the subject of momentum. The research method used is quasi-experimental, applying the 5E learning cycle to the experimental class and a lecture-based teaching method to the control class. Sample selection employs random sampling techniques. The research subjects are tenth-grade students at SMK Darul Wustha Jerowaru. Data collection involves problem-solving ability tests, documentation, and observations of the implementation of learning. Data analysis includes tests for normality, effect size, and the paired sample t-test statistical analysis. The research results indicate that the 5E Learning Cycle has a significant impact on students' problem-solving abilities, with a calculated t-value > t-table (19.969 > 1.690) and an effect size of 4.05 (strong category). Problem-solving abilities show a significant improvement according to the Ngain test, with an increase of 0.64 (moderate category). Thus, it can be concluded that the 5E Learning Cycle enhances students' problem-solving abilities in the subject of momentum.
