Abstract

The researcher found problems in the translation method at Darussalam Pinagar Islamic school west Pasaman, including that the teacher translates the book khulasah nurul yaqin part three using the literal translation method. The teacher translated the book word by word, and the translation was rigid and difficult to understand. Therefore, some students did not understand the text in the book khulasah nurul  yaqin part there. The purposes of this research is to know the application of the literal translation method in the book khulasah nurul yaqin, part there  at Darussalam Pinagar Islamic school west Pasaman. The type of research in this research means field study using descriptive method, meaning research that clarifies the materials of the organized and precise scientific facts and their relationship to the phenomena being researched. This data was collected using the method of observation and interview. The researcher noted the application of the literal translation method. Then the researcher interviewed the theacher who teaches this book in the third semester about the application of the literal translation method. Then the researcher interviewed the students who study the book khulasah nurul yaqin. The results of this research, the teacher used the literal translation method, one by one and then explained it. As for the problem in applying the literal translation method, the teacher rarely gives homework except for a little and the teacher’s view is limited to the vocabulary of the text.
