Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Value Clarification Technique (VCT) Berbasis Wayground untuk Peningkatan Karakter Demokratis Siswa Pembelajaran Pendidikan Pancasila Kelas VIIIF SMPN 9 Madiun

Abstract

The low level of democratic character among Grade VIII F students at SMP Negeri 9 Madiun was reflected in their limited participation in discussions, limited ability to respect others’ opinions, and lack of courage to express ideas. This study aimed to improve students’ democratic character through the implementation of the Wayground-based Value Clarification Technique (VCT) learning model in Pancasila Education. The study employed a Classroom Action Research design conducted in two cycles, each comprising planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research participants consisted of 27 Grade VIII F students at SMP Negeri 9 Madiun. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation and then analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods. The findings showed that the percentage of students who achieved the good category in democratic character increased from 40.74% in the pre-cycle to 66.67% in Cycle I and 88.89% in Cycle II. This improvement was demonstrated by students’ ability to respect others’ opinions, participate actively in discussions, express opinions politely, demonstrate tolerance, and act responsibly in group activities. Thus, implementing the Wayground-based VCT model can improve students’ democratic character in Pancasila Education. These findings provide practical implications for teachers in integrating a values clarification model and digital learning media to create participatory learning and support the strengthening of students’ democratic character.
